Picture Day October 28th

Picture money envelopes have been sent home. Each child's picture will be taken separately and then a class composite will be made to maintain social distancing. Students may wear DRESS UP Clothes - no jeans.


As a reminder that appointments can be made with Alba. I am available at 7:45 am or between 3:15 to 3:30 pm. 

You may also contact me at any time via your child's google classroom account. 



Students of the 8th grade are asked to bring $7 for pizza and soda for our Halloween celebration.

Parents have been invited to join their child's google classroom. Please check your email and accept this invite.


Students must check Google classroom for all homework assignments. 


Students that have not submitted assignments, still have to opportunity to hand in the assignment. It will be marked late but it is better than receiving a zero.

Scholarship Opportunity

 




Good afternoon!

I hope this email finds you well. For those who are familiar with our programs, I'm excited to share that our application for the Class of 2026 is open. For those who may not know of Student Sponsor Partners, I'm reaching out to provide information about our offerings and application for eligible students at your school.

Student Sponsor Partners is a New York City-based nonprofit providing scholarships for private high schools, educational support including college and career prep, and one-on-one mentorship to help students reach their highest potential. The application is open to eligible 8th graders – please see below for additional details.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Entering 9th grade in September 2022.
  • Annual per capita income of $12,000 or less (i.e. $48,000 or less for a family of 4).
  • Final 7th grade GPA must be between 70 - 85%.
  • Attendance record of no more than 15 absences and 15 latenesses in 7th grade.
  • No major disciplinary infractions or behavioral comments.
  • TACHS exam recommended but not required (TachsInfo.com).
  • Must be willing to work with a mentor for four years.
  • Guardian must contribute $800 annually for tuition and cover school fees.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

  • Scholarship to aid with tuition at one of our 23 partner private high schools, located across the five boroughs.
  • Mentor to provide one-on-one guidance and support throughout high school.
  • Academic programs including college and career prep to set them up for success.

This is a great opportunity for your students to access the benefits of a private high school education and a strong community of support, so please encourage eligible 8th grade students to apply ASAP at sspnyc.org/applyWe accept students on a rolling basis and our application closes January 15, 2022. Please note, there is a $35 application fee and applications will not be reviewed until all requested documents are received.

TACHS TESTING LOCATION UPDATE

Your child had been registered for the TACHS Exam. The testing location for that day will be in the school. Mr Placido will protoctor the exam. All students of the 8th grade are expected to be in school that day.

TACHS UPDATE

Your TACHS registration letter is due Tuesday, October 5, 2021. If the letter is not turned in, you will have to register your child on your own.


EDUCATE UPDATE (Urgent!)

Parents, you should be checking your child's educate to keep up to date with their progress. If you have have any questions or concerns regarding their progress, please make an appointment with Alba. I will be happy to talk via the phone or zoom.
